Benny and Cora, GAR Founders Executive Diamonds, have built a dynamic and cohesive team with their outstanding management style. 1. What is the key to connecting with young team members?

As a leader, the key to connecting with young team members is to maintain a youthful mindset and perspective.  We should act as companions rather than superior figures or parents. We need to put ourselves in their shoes, recalling our thoughts and expectations from our youth. Youngsters seek trust and inclusion, and we can build mutual reliance when spending time together. Another key is to offer confidence and toleration to young people who might not be familiar with certain rules or procedures. We need to provide sufficient assistance and encouragement, guiding them with patience. By giving them a “stage” - an opportunity to showcase their skills and apply what they have learned. Let them feel your affirmation, rather than just command and criticism. 

2. What insights do you have on building a sense of belonging in the team?

Organizing team events and festive gatherings can effectively enhance the sense of belonging among team members. For instance, we organized Christmas parties in which youngsters and their friends and family are invited to participate, fostering deeper connections among them. Besides, some parents might have concerns about their children’s development in Amway, so we can take the initiative to communicate with the parents and resolve any misunderstandings they might have. When the parents know that we are side with their children, providing them with support and helping them to grow, parents eventually allow them to thrive in Amway. 

3. Among the six values in the concept of ‘Health and Wellbeing’, which one resonates most with young people?

I believe ‘Community Connection’ is vital for youngsters. They enjoy spending time with friends and seek recognition, connection and resonance among peers. Therefore, I will organize various activities such as hiking, birthday parties and Christmas gatherings.  These events enable them to connect with the community and strengthen interactions with friends, thereby contributing to their personal growth. In terms of goals, earning money is not necessarily the top priority for young people. Instead, they are more eager to achieve self-realization, pursue personal development and diverse life experiences. Through community connections, youngsters can not only expand their social circles, discover their potential and hobbies, but also gain a sense of satisfaction and fulfillment.

4. What are the significant changes you perceive regarding the development of Amway in Hong Kong during its early days and now?

The most significant changes are the speed of development and the shift in Amway’s positioning. In the beginning, Amway focused primarily on household products which require the establishment of a large network to sustain the business. However, Amway's focus has expanded beyond household goods and transformed its business into the health and wellbeing industry, incorporating nutritional supplements as times change. As consumers nowadays place a higher value on their wellbeing and are willing to invest in high-quality nutritional products. Therefore, we can achieve strong sales results by communicating the significance of pursuing health and wellbeing to them.

In the past, we relied on off-line, in-person sales models but with the advancement of social media and video conferencing technologies, we can now share our products and business opportunities online at any time. This shift has undoubtedly increased the reach and conversion rates of our business. It allows more people to learn about Amway, resulting in a rapid and efficient growth.
