When we talk about what’s meant by “business”, people may have widely varying views. Some will change their “career” often, while others may choose to stay in the same job for their entire working life. How can we choose the most suitable career? That’s a question most of us must consider carefully.

The world is changing every day and all manner of new career options are popping up to make people even more confused. So, what is the best career? And which is the most promising job? As a veteran entrepreneur, Amway Founder Mr. Rich DeVos should have something to say on the matter. Mr. DeVos was a job-hopper before he founded Amway, switching jobs from an aviation school to a fast-food shop, a trading company, manufacturing children’s wooden horses and selling Nutrilite health supplements. He finally settled down when he and his friend, Mr. Jay Van Andel, established the Amway business. From Mr. DeVos’s point of view, what kind of business is worth devoting your life to?

The answer should consider four key words: freedom, reward, recognition and hope. Freedom refers to having the opportunity to allocate your time freely so you can focus more on the things that are important to you. Reward refers to ensuring you are properly compensated for the effort you make, and that compliments and positive affirmations are heading your way! A bright future should await with ample room for development. This should be a golden rule for all of us to reference when choosing our business.

From a micro viewpoint, a “business” refers to a career that we will devote our entire life to; while from a macro view it is about how it helps us realize our dreams and value. Whether you are establishing a business on your own or a newbie at work; whether you are embarking on a new career journey or focusing on your current job, it is wise to step back and take some time to think. Does your current work bring you happiness and allow you to enjoy personal enhancement? And does it give you good rewards and a sense of satisfaction?
