Our body begins to decline and naturally lose muscle mass and strength around the age of 30, with muscle mass decreasing at a rate of about 1% each year. Frequent dining out and a dietary habit favoring meat over vegetables can easily lead to insufficient nutrient intake, impacting our health as a result.
According to the data provided by the Department of Health, 97.9% of individuals aged 15 or above consume less than 5 servings of fruits and vegetables per day. Additionally, there are 25.4%, 51.6% and 28.9% of individuals among the same age group consume pickled vegetables, processed meats and high-salt snacks at least once a week, respectively. This highlights an eating habit of consuming more meat and fewer vegetables among Hong Kong people, together with other unhealthy lifestyle choices, indicating an additional support in obtaining essential nutrients is highly required.
