Plants’ Fingerprints
Besides having an ideal growing environment, choosing the right plant variety is crucial for product effectiveness.
The daisy family is the largest group in nature, with nearly 30,000 identified species. In China, there are five well-known medicinal and edible chrysanthemums, including Chuju, Boju, Gongju, Huaiju, and Hangju. Although they all belong to the chrysanthemum family, their benefits and chemical compositions are significantly different.
To distinguish the difference between species, scientists have employed ultra-high performance liquid chromatography to separate the chemical compounds in plants and create fingerprint profile. The results reveal that the peaks of 12 key active ingredients vary among the five species, with Hang Bai Ju showcasing a richer and more diverse array of effective components.
