Starting Small, Building Big

“I started my postpartum body-shaping business after getting married, and I welcomed my very first customer into a small room in our home,” Flora recalled. Running the business from home brought her a sense of fulfillment, but it also raised concerns. “I wondered if it was appropriate to have strangers regularly coming in and out of my home,” she explained. Aware that entrepreneurship required significant capital and carried risks, Flora talked things through with her husband and took the decision to establish her own company.

“I saw significant changes in my body after giving birth to my daughter. I was very satisfied with the results of the postpartum body-shaping treatments that I had, and it made me realize the potential in the industry. That’s when I decided to learn the necessary skills and develop a business in this area,” Flora explained.

Transitioning from a career in the finance industry to an entirely different field wasn’t easy. “It was tough! But I reminded myself to face challenges head-on, telling myself that if you repeat a task 100 times, you will overcome the fears and difficulties you face.” This 100-times mindset helped Flora move towards success one step at a time, and she was eventually able to turn her new postpartum body-shaping venture into a thriving business.

Slowing Down to Find Herself

“When the pandemic hit a few years ago, it gave me the chance to catch my breath. At the time, my business was so busy that I was physically drained and struggling to keep up,” Flora said. She took a step back from her intense workload which allowed her to explore the opportunity of building her Amway business. “A leader introduced me to the products from a nutritional perspective,” she recalled. “This piqued my curiosity so I began to learn more about the business.”

Flora said she didn’t fully understand the business plan at first, “and all I knew was that I needed to meet certain performance targets.” Always action-oriented, she focused on achieving these goals during the early stages of developing Amway. At the same time, she noticed significant improvements in her husband’s health after he started using the company’s nutritional supplements, which made her more confident about sharing the products with friends. “I approached the Amway business with a ‘why not give it a try?’ mindset. I didn’t know what the outcome would be, but I was prepared to give myself the opportunity.”

Facing Challenges through Personal Growth

Transitioning from managing her own enterprise to building an Amway business brought new challenges. “I’ve always been an introverted person who prefers to work independently,” Flora said. “I’m also very direct and blunt, and sometimes I didn’t realize how my words could make others feel uncomfortable.” She admitted that her body-shaping company had been her comfort zone. Her main interactions were with postpartum mothers and conversations were generally about family, children or extracurricular activities. “I really enjoyed the time I spent helping my clients ‘bind their belly’,” she laughed.

Interpersonal communication is key in the Amway business, but Flora always saw this as one of her weak spots. She expressed gratitude to her mentors for guiding her to improve her social skills and build relationships, reminding herself that, “every endeavor comes with challenges, and if you give up easily you have to consider whether you really have a better option.” Her inner resolve helped her to stay the course. “Amway is a platform where effort and rewards are proportional, so why not persist in the business to ensure a better future?” she smiled.

No ‘Me,’ Only ‘We’ – Teamwork is the Key

Having achieved Diamond, Flora said the most moving thing is the sense of companionship she shares with her like-minded partners as they work together to reach their goals. “Every leader and partner works selflessly, united by a common goal – to do our very best. This is what keeps me motivated.” She explained that the power of teamwork in Amway is unparalleled and like nothing she has experienced before. “What’s even more precious is the genuine friendships I’ve gained here,” she added. “Falling down isn’t scary; what matters is how you adjust your mindset, face challenges and overcome difficulties. That’s the key to lasting success.”

“The person I’m most grateful to is my husband, who has offered unconditional support,” Flora smiled warmly as she spoke about Francis. “He’s an explorer by nature, always gathering practical information from various sources to help me grow the Amway business. He’s like an encyclopedia for the team and my anchor of stability, always backing me up when I’m charging forward.”Looking ahead, the pair hope to build an even stronger team, nurturing the skills and potential of each partner and empowering everyone to succeed, moving together towards a healthier and more fulfilling life.
