As the first celebration for Nutrilite’s 90th anniversary project, the three-day/two-night “Amway Botanical Research Center Trip 2024” was successfully held in early May. The trip received an overwhelming response, attracting 180 ABOs keen to get a deeper understanding of Nutrilite’s R&D capabilities through this on-site visit in Wuxi, China.
The trip gave ABOs valuable insights into Nutrilite’s “From Seed to Supplement” brand philosophy and its extensive R&D capabilities. Feedback from the trip was very positive, with ABOs saying how they gained a great deal of new knowledge and experience that they can share with their partners in the future.
ABOs who journeyed to the Amway Botanical Research Center (ABRC) for the first time were greatly impressed to get a first-hand look at the facility’s research capabilities. The visitors were able to gain a deeper understanding of Nutrilite’s brand philosophy by learning about the ABRC’s daily operations, positioning and R&D projects.
During the trip, ABOs were introduced to the advanced research facilities at the ABRC. They handled some of the new and unusual research botanicals being used by Nutrilite scientists and learnt more about how the science-based R&D projects are conducted. The ABOs said their confidence in Nutrilite products was greatly boosted by what they saw and experienced during the visit.
How are high-quality botanical raw materials used in traditional Chinese medicine?
The key to high quality is to set rigorous scientific standards. The ABOs learnt about the “four correct scientific standards” – correct environment, correct species, correct planting and correct extraction – by learning about the research that goes into the chrysanthemum flower. The tour also included an introduction to the different types of laboratory research projects conducted at the ABRC, allowing ABOs to understand how Nutrilite is modernizing traditional Chinese medicine through the application of science and technology.

Visitors gained a deeper understanding of how science and technology are helping to modernize traditional Chinese medicine through the story of the cistanche plant.
In a visit to the Central Laboratory in the Rehnborg Building, ABOs learnt how high quality comes from high standards. Nutrilite has always been committed to natural and pure ingredients and stringent quality control in the pursuit of excellence.

The visitors had a chance to enjoy hands-on experience of doing fun science experiments after the tour was over, making the experience even more unforgettable.

Training by Scientists to Better Understand Botanical Research
A half-day training session was held during the trip, with ABRC scientists on hand to share their knowledge and experience to help deepen the ABOs’ understanding of the ABRC’s work and its focus on smart agriculture.
Dr. Kevin Li introduced ABOs to the concept of smart agriculture and the “four correct scientific standards” – environment, species, planting and extraction.
Dr. Robert Li shared how Nutrilite manufactures safe and effective products by incorporating nature and science.
Since its establishment 90 years ago, Nutrilite has been consistently committed to its philosophy of “Best of nature. Best of Science”. Mr. Carl Rehnborg stressed the importance of “responsibility”, saying:
“We’ve got to take responsibility for ourselves, our own health, the health of the environment, if we're going to protect and strengthen our society for the future.”
These words of wisdom inspired Nutrilite to continue its focus on science and nature.
